Inspired by the new available technology and tools, very useful for startups like mine 'Diversity4Tech.Science'. AWS Cloud Services has a lot to offer for big companies and startups, like: Marketplace, Alexa and Launchpad, and also Polly, Lex, Rekognition, Translate, Lambda, SageMaker, Comprehend, Transcribe and Connect are useful to implement AI and machine learning into your applications.
The only thing it's not offering is diversity. They should have called it 'AWS Men Summit Amsterdam 2019' as staff was men, trainers were men and even the booths were catered to men as if they were expecting male attendees only. The giveaways at the booths were for men, as seen in the picture (Tshirts, socks, gadgets, even men's underwear). This men thing started in the morning already, as there was a long queue of men at the entrance to enter the venue, where I waited like 20 minutes. What's happening Amazon, no diversity policy? How is it possible that no women are working at AWS, at least based on this conference it suggests that you have no female employees and women to represent you and the services/technology you offer.
The only diversity on stage was a few men from different cultures. It's safe to say that when looking at your event, you think that only men use your services, so why bother to focus on women, right..? Newsflash: Women also use your technology, so there are women available to take the stage and give keynotes!!!! And women can make your technology more user friendly for female users.
The only positive thing, was the delicious lunch and that I met Mark of GameHouse who does focus on female users as clients and empowers women in tech! "Diversity always rules, includes, and drives innovation" (slogan of / quote by Diversity4Tech.Science)
